Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:
Planet Earth is a perfect one-stop reference book for answers to questions on the geography of our world. It describes Earth's major physical features, environments, and weather. There is also a very extensive and up-to-date section covering the geography of most of the world's countries, including maps and data on population sizes, capital cities, currencies, religions, and much more.
The fresh, easily-accessible design and index make information retrieval wonderfully simple, and the pleasing mix of artwork, diagrams, and photographs will prove irresistible to any child.

School Library Journal Review
Gr 4-8-A beautifully composed book that combines clear text with an inviting layout. Compiled in a thoughtful manner so that it can be used for topic-specific research or for browsing, Planet Earth not only teaches world geography and earth science, but does so in a simple yet thorough manner. A few pages on environmental problems give cogent explanations of the greenhouse effect, global warming, and acid rain. The full-color illustrations and photographs are striking and effective. On a lighter note, a cartoon demonstrates the Beaufort Scale in a way that even the youngest reader can understand. In the ``World Maps'' section, political and physical maps are shown, and the differences between them are explained. Color-coded ``Regions of the World'' are each explored in multipage spreads that cover all essential facts in a succinct yet comprehensive manner. The ``Countries at a Glance'' section neatly summarizes current statistics, providing one-stop shopping for information on population, size, language, currency, and more. A volume that should receive a warm welcome from teachers, librarians, and students.-Anita Palladino, Finkelstein Memorial Library, Spring Valley, NY (c) Copyright 2010.
