Booklist Review
Having established herself as the hero of Burnside, the hip borough of Gotham City, Batgirl now fights to maintain her title while still trying to have a normal life. In this second volume of the series, cameos can be found everywhere, from Batwoman to former Robin Dick Grayson to the crime-solving kids in the new series, Gotham Academy. These appearances help move the story forward as Batgirl tries to uncover the secret plans of a group known as Gladius, but those new to the franchise might be confused about the constant shifting. A mixture of artistic styles Batwoman's panels are heavily detailed, while the Gotham Academy drawings have a soft focus does help keep some of the cameos separate from the main piece. The opening segment, during which Batgirl fights the new Batman (a mechanized suit piloted by her father, Jim Gordon), helps advance both of their story lines and shows a new dynamic to their relationship. It's definitely the highlight of the piece and promises interesting adventures in forthcoming installments of this wonderfully campy series.--Blenski, Peter Copyright 2016 BooklistThere are no comments on this title.
