Booklist Review

Dr. Stoppard, author of Conception, Pregnancy, and Birth (1993) and other titles, is a well-known authority on the health of women and children. Her version of "complete" includes coverage from birth through age five and a look at many special issues concerning health problems and development. Among the special issues that receive lesser coverage elsewhere but careful examination here are giftedness, attention deficit disorder, stuttering, and chronic conditions, such as asthma and epilepsy. The book is neatly designed, that is, emergency information is made readily accessible and everyday facts highly eye-catching. A must to place on the shelves beside the invaluable works of Penelope Leach. Denise Perry Donavin
