Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:
Sue Ellen Cooper, bestselling author of The Red Hat Society: Fun and Friendship After Fifty and one of the founders of this bourgeoning group--which increases by 100 chapters a day--provides the foreword, and the animated character Ruby Red Hat hosts the proceedings in high style and high spirits.
There's no doubt that the "Red Hats" are an amazing phenomenon. Not only did the book written by its founders stay on the New York Times' Bestseller List for weeks, but more and more women over 50 just keep catching the wave and joining the movement. And what could be better for the now nearly one million members who celebrate fun and friendship than scrapbooking? They'll all rush to those shoeboxes filled with photos and come to this brightly illustrated volume to see how to do it in the inimitable, adventurous Red Hat way. Fifteen sections, organized by particular "Red-Hat-isms"-such as Dress for Excess and Exercise Your Funny Bone-are introduced by Ruby Red Hat, who's always garbed in the appropriate manner for each particular theme. The nearly 80 projects include both flat album-type pages as well as spectacular dimensional ideas for gift boxes, invitations, and other designs. Readers will also appreciate 9 pages of patterns-not to mention the wit and wisdom they'll find along with the techniques.
A Selection of the Crafters Choice Book Club.
"A Sterling/Chapelle book."

Booklist Review
The logical extension of the Red Hat Society--an international disorganization of women over 50 celebrating self and life--is something tangible, something memorable. The results of the society teaming with the ever-ready Chapelle Studios and its designers is this collection of album pages, small items, and alliterative and punny captions determined to make readers smile. Don't expect a particular order or a specific theme except for an effusion of red and purple on every page--and comments from Ruby RedHat, the official cartoon mascot of the RHS. Not all of the 80 projects include instructions or a list of materials; all of the scrapbooklike pages, for instance, feature only a two- to three-sentence description with an idea or two (like using buttons as a frame) and the full-color design. On the other hand, expect good instructions for such giftables as invitations, Christmas ornaments, recipe cards and box, and, yes, a royal scepter, among others. Celebrating life and the wisdom of age can be both a silly and an effective way to target markets. --Barbara Jacobs Copyright 2005 BooklistThere are no comments on this title.
