Publishers Weekly Review
In the sequel to Little Bo, the feline heroine and her sailor friend Billy Bates hitchhike to Paris in Little Bo in France: The Further Adventures of Bonnie Boadicea by Julie Andrews Edwards, illus. by Henry Cole. The illustrated tour includes the Eiffel Tower and Montmartre before the pair boards a barge bound for the South of France. (Apr.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. Gr 2-4-This sequel to Little Bo (Hyperion, 1999) follows the feline and a seaman, Billy, as they traverse France in search of work. They have varied adventures in Paris, travel down the Seine on a barge, encounter a mistral, and end up in Cannes for a presumably happily ever after ending. The simple text in this chapter book is peppered with French words and reads like a travelogue. Cole's oil-on-paper illustrations support the action of the story and admirably capture the ambience of France. A supplemental purchase.-Linda M. This sequel to [cf2]Little Bo[cf1] finds kitty Bo and her person, Billy Bates, exploring France. In Paris, Lyons, Avignon, and Cannes, Billy takes various jobs, while he and Bo make friends and have several adventures. Billy and Bo's affection is touching, but plot coincidences overwhelm the narrative. Finely detailed oil paintings illustrate the story. Glos. From HORN BOOK Spring 2003, (c) Copyright 2010.
