School Library Journal Review
PreS-Gr 2-Mr. Drake warns the kids in Class 2-D that they may look at but should not touch their new class pet, Fluffity. But such a cute little critter is hard to resist, and as soon as the teacher is away, the students take her out of her cage only to realize they've made a big mistake as she proceeds to bite everyone. The comical illustrations of Fluffity chasing the students down the halls, combined with rhyming text and the repeated phrase, "[She] bit them, bit them, bit them all!," make this a fun storytime read-aloud with plenty of humor and a clear message about getting to know one's pet before letting her out of her cage. But all is forgiven in the end, and Fluffity's reaction on the last page, when she encounters the newest class pet (a snake), is priceless. VERDICT A great read-aloud for storytime and classrooms about to meet a new pet.-Jessica Marie, Salem Public Library, OR © Copyright 2016. Room 2-D just got a class pet: an adorable, tiny hamster named Fluffity. When the students illicitly take her out of the cage, they learn that appearances can deceive; unleashed, Fluffity is a "brute," and mayhem ensues. Cole's loose, comic watercolors complement the rhyming romp, together creating a playful story perfect for a high-energy read-aloud. (c) Copyright 2017.
