Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:
A family of irresistibly sweet bears in an irresistibly sweet bedtime story. It's time to go to sleep, time for Big Brown Bear to tuck all four little bears into their beds. Then he's ready to climb into his own bed and turn out the light. Five warm beds, holding five sleepy bears, until ... a sound goes whoosh in the middle of the night, and all the bears wake up in a fright. Will they ever get back into bed? Luckily, Big Brown Bear knows just what to do! A fun, rhyming read-aloud that parents will love - and tired little cubs will be happy to snuggle up with.

Publishers Weekly Review
The four small bears from Bears on Chairs demonstrate their distinctive personalities as they climb into bed: "Fuzzy whirls in/ like a circus bear./ She swirls into bed/ with a twirly flair!" But when they hear a sound in the night, all four bears wake up and hop into Big Brown Bear's bed. Walker's smudgy acrylic bears pair well with Parenteau's use of repetition and phrases that rhyme with "bear," making for a soothing reading primer and cozy bedtime story. Ages 2-5. (Aug.) PreS-Five beds are waiting for five bears. Big Brown Bear comes first and settles sleepily in the one big bed. Then gradually the little beds are occupied by Yellow, Fuzzy, Calico, and Floppy Bear, and they all snuggle down and go to sleep. But wait! What is that sound? "They heard the wind./They had a scare./They're afraid to stay/in their beds over there." So, all five end up cuddling in Big Brown Bear's bed. Set against pages of mostly blue and lavender shades, the soft pastel acrylic illustrations picture the huggable cubs perfectly. A sweet bedtime story for tots, simply but very well done.-Blair Christolon, Prince William Public Library System, Manassas, VA (c) Copyright 2012. Bouncy rhyming couplets tell the story of five bears and their bedtime routine. Big Brown Bear is the first to climb into bed, but he is soon joined by four little bears: Yellow, Fuzzy, Calico and Floppy. "Out goes the light! / It's cozy in there. / Five warm beds / hold five tired bears." But the peace is soon shattered by the sounds of a storm that scares the little ones out of their beds and into the safe, snuggly bed of Big Brown Bear. He knows just what to do: read a story "about three bears / and a pesky girl / with golden hair." Soft acrylics in gentle colors complement this bedtime story that ends just where any good bedtime story should--with everyone snoring. Though the rhymes rely on the "there-bear" combination too often, this will be a great story for new readers who want to practice their skills by reading aloud to their younger siblings. Easy to read and a breeze to memorize, these little bears will soon be part of many a bedtime routine. Little bears who are afraid of storms or who have trouble sleeping will want to cuddle up with these five friends.
